Infrared Cameras have existed since the 1960's. 'Mold Inspectors point them at walls to find moisture. Homeland Security is using them for border control. Marines have IR cameras mounted underneath the Apache attack helicopters to spot insurgents in the dark.' Electricians use them to find hot spots and thermographers use them to find energy leaks behind walls.
Automobile's Web site dubbed it ' the coolest driving distraction ever.' Models of the camera have become less expensive. The BMW 5-Series sedans last year were offered with an optional night-vision package. The device gives drivers a "6th" sense, enabling them to see farther in the dark than with just headlights."
